The Austrian cryptocurrency platform Bitpanda has received a MiCA license from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). This license allows Bitpanda to offer its services in all EU markets under a single regulatory standard.

The MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) license entered into force on December 30, 2024 and is designed to ensure transparency and protection of users of crypto services. Bitpanda became the second company to receive this license after Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody, which underlines the importance of meeting new standards for competitiveness.

Eric Demuth, CEO of Bitpanda, noted that the successful implementation of MiCA will depend on strict and consistent compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as on the EU's ability to compete with countries such as the United States. He added that regulation should not slow down innovation, but rather create conditions for the sustainable growth of the crypto industry.
