Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, speaking in Hua Hin, said that Thailand should actively explore cryptocurrencies in order to remain competitive on the world stage. He noted that in the near future, the number of digital currencies may exceed the number of countries, which underlines the need to adapt to new financial technologies.
Thaksin stressed the importance of experimenting with sandboxes, and noted that understanding the digital economy will be the key to the successful development of the country. The government is already taking steps in this direction, including testing tokenized settlements and supporting crypto funds.
