Coinbase has received official approval from the National Securities Commission of Argentina (CNV) to expand its services in the country. The exchange will now be able to offer users local payment methods in Argentine pesos and launch additional services in accordance with the law.

Coinbase started its operations in Argentina back in 2019, providing cryptocurrency conversions and trading. However, it is only now that the company has been granted the status of an official virtual asset provider (VASP), which allows it to operate in full legal transparency and comply with the country's new regulatory standards.

Fabio Plein, Coinbase's director for the Americas, noted that the company also plans to develop educational initiatives for Argentines, helping them understand the benefits of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. According to a recent report by Coinbase, 76% of Argentine adults believe that the crypto industry can be a solution to their financial problems, including inflation and high fees.

Currently, about 5 million Argentinean residents use cryptocurrency daily, and demand continues to grow, especially in the stablecoin segment.
