El Salvador has reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of $1.4 billion, under which the country makes the use of bitcoin voluntary for business and restricts government participation in projects related to cryptocurrency.

The IMF noted that such measures will help reduce the risks associated with the use of bitcoin. As part of the deal, taxes will be paid exclusively in US dollars, and the government's participation in the Chivo wallet will be gradually reduced.

Despite these changes, the National Bitcoin Authority of El Salvador stated that the country will continue to buy bitcoins, adding one bitcoin per day, and has no plans to sell current stocks. This agreement completes four years of negotiations and supports additional financial investments from the World Bank and other international organizations.
