The US Supreme Court refused to consider Nvidia's appeal aimed at ending a class action lawsuit related to cryptomining. Investors accuse the company of underestimating the sales volume of its graphics processing units (GPUs) for cryptomining, which led to unreliable financial statements.
The lawsuit filed in 2018 was previously dismissed by the district court, but later reinstated by the Court of Appeal. Shareholders claim that Nvidia hid more than $1 billion in revenue generated from the sale of GPUs to miners. In 2022, Nvidia has already paid $5.5 million as part of a settlement of SEC allegations of insufficient transparency in its reporting.
